The two individuals killed in Thursday's violent incident on a synagogue in Manchester have been identified as fifty-three-year-old Adrian Daulby and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz, police have said.
Local law enforcement said formal identification is yet to take place but their relatives have been notified and family liaison officers are providing assistance.
The victims were killed when an attacker used a vehicle to ram into the premises of the local Jewish worship center in north Manchester, then stabbed worshippers in a six-minute rampage that concluded when specialist police fired upon him.
Three others were seriously injured in the violent incident on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
Police named the attacker on yesterday evening as Jihad al-Shamie, thirty-five, a UK national of Middle Eastern origin.
Greater Manchester police revealed that three other people – two males in their thirties and a woman in her 60s – had been arrested “on suspected involvement of commission, organization and encouragement of acts of terrorism”.
The home secretary has stated that the individual who carried out the violent incident in the region was unknown to the police.
“In terms of the perpetrator, this person was not known to the intelligence agencies,” said the Home Secretary.
“He has obviously been shot dead at the location, but the police investigations will now proceed rapidly.”
Autopsies of the deceased – each individual are from the local area – will be conducted later on Friday.
MI5 and counter-terrorism police will function at a heightened state of alert in the coming weeks, reflecting concern that the Manchester synagogue attack may be followed by others.
Policing at Jewish worship centers across the country is to be increased.
